My second life

My Second Life is the sequel to The Terrifying Delight of Losing Everything. In November 2020, Philip Serez was diagnosed with ALS. Five years later, he is completely paralyzed and dependent on a ventilator to breathe. Yet within this season of profound loss, Philip and his family have discovered unexpected treasures – deeper relationship, shared presence and a community that has carried them through.

Philip and Robyn Serez have served as mission mobilizers for over 25 years with Multiply, the mission agency of Mennonite Brethren churches in Canada and the United States. They live in Kitchener, Ont.

In 2024 they contributed a powerful article to Faith Today called The terrifying delight of losing everything: Embracing the joy of Emmanuel which reflects on their journey with the degenerative disease ALS that is breaking down Philip's body.

Around that time Multiply independently made a video documentary with the same name, and now they have released this second documentary.
